Claims Faculty

Claims is often termed the ‘shop window’ of insurance, as policyholders often only see what they have bought when they have made a claim.

The Chartered Insurance Institute has set up the Claims Faculty to get everyone engaged in claims activities, no matter what their level of experience. Its main aims are to promote professionalism and competence, whilst encouraging progression to qualified status, at all stages of your claims career.

This fact file summarises those rules of civil procedure which have a major impact on insurers and other agencies involved in the handling of liability claims. Major changes came into effect in 1999 with the introduction of the new Civil Procedure Rules. The rules have been modified and developed since that date.
